I've seen that commercial, for a civic I think. I'm really glad they're getting more exposure.

I saw the M&M's commercial. The commercial was nothing special, but it was neat to hear that great cover.

oh man, grey's anatomy is my number 2 favorite show.

is it just me, or does it really bother other people that so much great music is being used to promote such lame crap?! (excluding grey's anatomy from the category of crap, but i still don't like that they used such great heights...) i mean, the other day, aqueduct was in the background of the ashlee simpson show, and sufjan stevens provided the background music for nip/tuck...

someone needs to invent a new genre really quickly, because "indie" is the one music frontier that the majority of people are oblivious to... what happens when people get tired of dropping it like it's hawt??? they "discover" sufjan and death cab and all the other of the world's best kept secrets. seriously, sufjan was featured as "THE NEXT BIG THING" in seventeen magazine!!!

sorry if i am the only one who is completely selfish and does not want death cab and sufjan to become mainstream, but it really pisses me off. not everyone deserves to listen to them, you know! (god, what a snobby little elitist i sound like here...)

seriously, lauren, what would you do if they started playing "casimir pulaski day" instead of "1-2-step" during lunch on fridays???

sorry sorry sorry for this little rant... kind of off-topic, but i can't help it.

In my opinion Nip/Tuck is a great show.

But I do think it is annoying that indie rock is becoming more mainstream becuase it could lead to good bands like Death Cab and Sufjan Stevens becoming over popular and featuring on bad daytime tv interview shows and played constantly on the radio.

I do doubt that this will happen soon, because i think the ony reason indie music is being used in tv shows and commercials is becuase they generally dont want a popular song but something that is undiscovered so people wont have heard it before

That's the nature of the beast though. Great art will always be exploited. The Sistine Chapel is a great example - we hack it up and slap the picture of God & Adam's hands reaching for each other on movie posters and ad campaigns and whatnot. How about Beethoven's Fifth as a ringtone?! Bleaahh!!
