Coldplay - Your Views?

Anyone here like Coldplay?

Personally, I think they are pretty dull, with the exception of Square One. I love that song, I feel it has the most "rocky" feel than any of the other songs

I quite like Coldplay now and I think they are a decent band, but I wouldn't say that they are indie rock.

Coldplay isn't indie rock. Coldplay is good, but extremely overrated. Parachutes is pretty amazing, and Rush of Blood is also good, but unfortunately X&Y is just boring and has completely crappy lyrics... like copies of the first two albums but without the emotion that accompanied the first two. I mean, they do not deserve to play shows to sold out stadiums and get all the attention they do. I think they are a good band that almost everyone will like (for example, my entire extended family), but extremely overrated.

I agree Coldplay are very overrated, I've heard that some people are calling them the best band in the world, which is not true. They are good just not that good.

...not good at all

frankly, they are an everyday band with nothing unique about them. i can get better music locally, and these guys are on capitol? c'mon, y'all. you might have to dig a little deeper, but there is definitely better music out there than coldplay.

Coldplay's overrated-ness from people makes me not like them. Of course they are going to be depressing no doubt, they are influenced by Radiohead, who well hehe, Thom Yorke hates Coldplay too.

Coldplay are on EMI. But yes, they are anything but indie.

Agree with that...they're anything but indie...maybe if you include the definition of Britpop into indie music then they are indie but otherwise...they're just a very popular pop group.

coldplay gone cold

I think Alex was right. Parachutes was their best work to date. X & Y was a crushing disappointment to me at least, especially after countless interviews, rave reviews and articles yelling that this time coldplay had "experimented", X&Y had a "new flavour" and it was Coldplay's breakaway from their stereotypical sound.
when i heard it it was just ordinary. maybe even boring, definitely not something i'd put on repeat mode.

The lyrics were not particularly inspiring like "the Scientist" or even attention grabbing in any way and even the best track on the album "Speed of Sound", to me did not have the potential to attain the cult status Yellow has. Not good at all!

I never really liked Coldplay, but all of my friends did. What i did like is the music would always calm me down, its sorta soothing, if you know what i mean. If I had to pick a favourite of all of their songs, I would probably say Yellow, because that was the first song of theirs I heard.
