Re: Queens of the Stone Age/Eagles of Death Metal

Sure thing!
It was only a matter of time before it'd show up on YouTube, and voila...

YouTube - Queens Of The Stone Age - "Sick Sick Sick" (music video)

See if you can hear Julian Casablancas. I sure wish they put him in the video, I guarantee the girl fanbase would have doubled afterwards...and maybe even the indie/garage crowd as well :P

Oh yeah...well I needed to do that anyway haha...the photo I am using on my background is this one:

I believe it's also going to be the album cover art, if I am not mistaken. I know the one on the right is named Bulby.

Really?? Now, who would have thunk it? Pretty original, if you ask me. And I am not usually that bright. (Pun intended.)

Have any of you watched the video yet? What's your take on it?
I think they could have done a little bit more...well, everyone seems to be ok with it except they all caught on that Julian Casablancas is missing from the video haha

Of the 3 songs I've heard, I only liked one of them, and I think one or both of the others will grow on me. I'll admit, I don't think it'd have the same magic as Rated R or Songs for the Deaf, or even Lullabies to Paralyze.

A warning for you Roxy, though you'll no doubt ignore it being such a fan, but the latest album sucks total arse.

It's really fucking dire. Pitifully so. I can't even verbalise my distaste for it, it's that bad. There's all of three good riffs in the whole thing, and they don't last long enough to save the songs they're part of.

I love the first two, and LTP was very good too, hence my utter disappointment in this steaming heap of Satan's poo.

Say it isn't so!! I am a big fan, too! Can they do anything bad?

Re: Queens of the Stone Age/Eagles of Death Metal

It's on its way since I preordered it last month...I heard 3 of the songs and decided to wait to hear the others and not cheat... I was hoping the rest of the album would sound more like Sickx3 and not the other 2 I'd heard which were sort of slow. Eh, it'll be a matter of opinion I guess but I'm sure it won't be as good as previous albums.

I just got it yesterday. Wasn't that bad...will take some growing on to but I think it's fairly listenable. Definitely no Songs for the Deaf though...

I heard it, too. I think it pretty much sounds like anything else they have ever done, so if you like them, you will like this CD, too.

QOTSA by numbers you mean? It's sure that, and in being so is plodding and dull.

The White Stipes through 5 of their 6 albums have followed a formula, but they've never got boring (for me anyway) as they've carried on. This...*sigh*

Re: Queens of the Stone Age/Eagles of Death Metal

I can't help but feel this latest album is not really made for anyone else's liking except Josh Homme, or maybe with this "new" style he was trying to prove a point...if I talked to my friend a little more, the QoTSA expert, I could probably come up with that point but I don't think anyone here would really care as much as he does about it haha
That's my standpoint, I don't think it was meant to be as catchy and car-stereo worthy as the last 2.

Who'd deliberately make a dull record?
