Re: Arcade Fire?

Whoever said "You've got your whole life to write your first album, and only two years to write your second" knew what they were on about.

When you've had a phenomenon of a debut, the pressure is really on for your second to be a killer, and most simply cannot beat it, only the rare few.

Re: Arcade Fire?

Second albums are notoriously difficult to write. But without Funeral to set a precedent Neon Bible is still a brilliant album.

Re: Arcade Fire?

as folk have been saying, the second album is difficult, and with neon bilbe i think arcade fire have diffused any lingering doubts about their ability to be dynamic, and origional with their music.

i love it!

Re: Arcade Fire?

Neon Bible is weak. Very Weak. That said, Funeral wasn't as great as everyone seemed to think it was. There were only two or three really strong tracks on it.

Best thing I've heard them do was their cover of Guns of Brixton on the culture show.

Re: Arcade Fire?

i have to disagree, neon bible was a pretty solid follow-up, especially the pressure they had to live up to funeral. and funeral is awesome, i could listen to that whole album anytime and not be bored with it. especially the neighborhood suite and wake up. i just love the way i feel when i listen to them, you get a hopeful happy feeling, which sounds really cheesy but it's true and it's why i paid so effing much to see them in philly a couple weeks ago.

Re: Arcade Fire?

i know you postd this a while ago, but Arcade Fire is a pretty talented band. Though, their last release i dont think was great, but it was critically praised/acclaimed by many reviewers and fans. I would definitely get their first album, Funeral . Its sooo good.hope that helps

Re: Arcade Fire?

I love the song 'No Cars Go' ! If you like this band you might like these others - they're keeping me in good spirits while I work all day!

'Sleep Deprivation' by The Servant

'Essex County Line' by Device

'Don't Cry Michael' by Silverall

'Modern Man' by Madding Crowd

Anyone else heard of these yet?

Re: Arcade Fire?

I wonder why I have never heard of Arcade Fire? They must be popular enough to be on SNL.

Re: Arcade Fire?

Neon Bible is a good follow up, its not as good as Funeral obviously but they were under alot of pressure. I mean look at Voxtrot, they release three amazing EPs and were being hyped and their debut was pretty bad in comparison to the EPs. I'm glad they (arcade fire) managed to pull of a solid album. I like it, but i've never gotten to into them.
