Christian Hardcore
Ok, here's a good thread to get a debate going. There's been a real upswing in forwardly neo-christian thinking hardcore bands and labels. The ideals of christians can be in direct conflict with the original ethos of the hardcore punk movement. Does it not matter a damn to you what a band belives, or does it a christian band make you more/less likely to care in their message. Should a movement that is famed for being open and receptive to everybody accept the increasing involvement of a belief system that teaches we are all slaves?

With all kinds of mixes of music and religion:
If the message doesn't effect my enjoyment of the music and as long as it doesn't seem to preachy. I love Underoath which is Christian I believe...? I don't know if you(kingmob) would consider them hardcore though. |

Yes, Underoath is a Christian Band.
I have been a Christian for a long time and I grew up on a baptist church which I now consider too "old and traditional" for my tastes. I knew it at the time and I didnt' like it then, but I didn't know any better. When the Christian Rock scene started to sprout in the early 80s, there was much resistence and debate from the church, stating that it was "secular" or "devil" music. This is total crap. The Bible clearly states "sing a new song unto the Lord" and that is exactly what these Christian bands are doing. I think it is a great thing that they do and nowadays I pretty much listen to Christian rock and nothing else. |

Creed was good, I kinda liked them. Have you heard Scott Staff's new CD? It is pretty good also. It isn't really my fav style of music, but I do think he has a very good voice.
If you like Underoath, you might like these bands also: Stavesacre 12 Stones Day of Fire Decypher Down Skillet Staple Spoken 38th Parallel Stutterfly |

Well, I have no problem with a band who has christian beliefs as long as they don't try and force them on anyone. I do have issues with bands who take it further and put money into political propoganda (Rock For Life). You're getting into practices like blacklists of bands who "don't fit the christian message" etc.

It's funny there was once a time when the christians were all up in arms about rock music and how it corrupts the youth and is all devil worshipping etc. and now there is a genre that is called christian rock/christian hardcare etc....
I don't care if the artists are christian, muslim, jew or other, if it isn't preachy I would give it a listen...But if it starts on with "Jesus loves you" or "God is watching out for you" or any other christian related nonsense, it'll get the flick. But how are you a christian band...and not sing about christian beliefs? What makes you christian? How are you a christian band? Because you are a follower of the christian faith? That makes lots of band christian then, doesn't it? So they must sing about their god, so I won't be listening....

You can dress it anyway you want, biblical/political. It goes to the same end. RFL teaches Christian fundamentalist propaganda. And I think that bullshit has all ready brought us all close enough to the fucking apocalypse allready, thank you very much.

You can't blame, Christianity, Budahism, Judeism, or Cabalists for the sins of Muslims. You don't see Christians trying to blow up planes or become suicide bombers. |

Now, my brothers and sisters and I are giving the Christian Hard Rock scene a try, though we are far from getting signed, but we're are trying. Our site is here: http://www.SoulSacrifice.net |
