The Postal Service
I figured I'd get the obvious bands out of the way first
![]() The Postal Service(one of my favorite bands) is one of the best in the indie scene in my opinion. Such Great Heights, The District Sleeps Tonight, Nothing Better, Brand New Colony are all amazing songs. The songs featuring Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley and her solo gig are even better. Jenny and Ben make an amazing duet. |

Re: The Postal Service
The Postal Service is amazing and I do love their song Such Great Hights. I actually heard that song in a re-make by Iron and Wine and loved it, and found it by The Postal Service several days later. Although the PS version is way better, Iron and Wine's version is certainly interesting.

Re: The Postal Service
The Postal Service is an amazing portray of raw talent. While there might be better bands and albums out there, Give Up is one of the purest and best electronic indie albums to date.
James Scott Tamborello basically singlehandedly programmed all the music. And understandibly so, because the album is very simplistic. The entire album is based on osc generators, filtered drumbox samples, and acoustic instruments ripped apart by plugins and filters. And yet, it's not electronica, it's pop. And it's very very good pop. And then Ben Gibbard walks into the project and offer his songwriting and vocals. That man makes me so jealous. His vocals sound like a pastime, and yet they're always spot-on. Ben Gibbard took an interesting project and made it into one simple 10-track album. Nearly every song made a hit single. Nearly every song is equally good. And still the album has flow, from track one to ten. So in my opinion, Give Up is a testament to the immense talent of the people involved in making it, not just an ordinary album. |
