Good indie bands?

Hellogoodbye, Quietdrive, and Dashboard Confessional are my favorite indie bands.

I like Quietdrive. I'm not too sure about the others. Are they really Indie though?

"Indy" what a useless description of anything.

I love My Bloody Valentine. I guess they're indy.

My Bloody Valentine had a lot of hype around them when they had their first hit. Haven't heard much from them since.

Really? They haven't released anything since 1995, that may be why.

Well fellas, hate to break it to you, but not one of the bands mentioned so far has been indie. My Bloody Valentine I'm not actually sure their label, but I really wouldnt consider them indie. And Lance, please Wikipedia "indie." If you guys want to talk good indie bands, let's not leave out Of Montreal, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, The Unicorns, Stars, THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS, Belle and Sebastian, The Most Serene Republic, The Microphones, The Juliana Theory (they're indie-ish), Islands (the band produced by the fall of The Unicorns), INTERPOL, The GO! Team, Explosions In the Sky, Dogs Die In Hot Cars, Desert City Soundtrack(not to be confused with their emi-ish counterparts, Motion City Soundtrack), The Decemberists, The Dandy Warhols, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Broken Social Scene, British Sea Power, The Arcade Fire, and scores of excellent solo indie artists.

I don't care if you don't consider them indy. They were on Creation. The Quintessential UK indy label. Sometimes they were reffered to as "shoegaze" but they are essentialy, like Primal Scream, Jesus and the Marychain an indy band.

If your gonna pick faults, the Dandy Warhols are most certainly not an indy band. They're a fucking joke.

The Warhols are just a pop band. A pop band who make their money from floggin their tunes to advertise product. MBV are unique and one of the most influential bands of the last few decades.

As an aside, have you seen dig? Now the Brianjonestown massacre I do like.....

And Indy is a perfectably acceptable spelling in the UK. Seeing as its ENGLISH and not YANKEE DOODLE, i'll stick with that thanks.
