Slipknot

Anyone else have a problem with this band? I just think the masks are stupid. But they do have a few good songs. Their drummer, Joey Jordison is amazing too. Their lead singer has a good voice too.

But I just can't get past the masks. It just seems to lower my respect for them.

You can make good music without having to do something gimmicky like masks

From a interview with Corey Taylor:

NYROCK:
The masks that you've each chosen, do they reflect a certain angry aspect of each member's personality?

COREY:
Yeah, it's a little more. It's our way of becoming more intimate with the music. It's a way for us to become unconscious of who we are and what we do outside of music. It's a way for us to kind of crawl inside it and be able to use it. There's a little aspect of, I guess, our personality in them, but in a way, it's almost like wearing the music. That's the way it is for us. The music for us is so tangible that you can wrap it around yourself and feel safe. You can get inside it and explore it. You know what I mean?

So that's why they are wearing their masks

I think this statement is rather foolish personally.

I don't really like the masks either. But other than that, they're a good band. So they like masks...that doesn't affect the music.

Slipknot are amazing. There music kinda went down hill a bit in Subliminal Versus but i still really like them. I think there masks started with Joey at halloween and him with a plaine white mask and so on and so on but ye they might be a bit stupid but it kinda sets them apart. Add a certain aspect of horror to them think of all the great movie killers all masked, Jason, Mike ....

I've heard of them but never actually heard them play or their songs. Do they have a PureVolume band profile?
