Can't say I like Marilyn Manson. I appreciate some of the songs, but not too many.

Re: Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson...what can you say that hasn't already been said?

He's performed individually, in a band with the same name. If you want to see a guy do weird stuff, who is still making music, he's right. Ozzy Osbourne does it, Alice Cooper does it. It's MM's turn. The music is sometimes metal, it's sometimes goth/industrial/alternrock.

Am I a fan? Mostly. I have pretty much of all of his/the band's stuff, and like most of it. The person, himself, Marilyn (Munroe Charles) Manson, is like the modern day Willy Wonka. Actually, I don't know if you knew but MM was supposed to play Willy Wonka in the latest movie, but couldn't because of scheduling, so Johnny Depp got it. Manson would have done a heaps better job I have to say.

@ madjar: NIN and Slipknot kick ass too. Two of my friends are going to see NIN live, and I was almost going to go with them...I have my fist, I have my plan, I have Survivalism.

Re: Marilyn Manson

Heard one of his earlier albums a few years ago and wasn't too impressed - but currently Listening to Eat Me, Drink Me - really impressed so far.

Re: Marilyn Manson

The best albums by Manson are Golden Age of Grotesque and Mechanical Animals. GAOG because it has Doll-Dagga-Buzz-Buzz-Ziggety-Z, KaBoom KaBoom, mOBSCENE, (s)AINT, Use Your Fist And Not Your Mouth, and Mechanical Animals for Mechanical Animals, Coma White, I Don't Like the Drugs and The Dope Show. Love 'em.

I think his music would best be described as Nu Metal, with a lot of Industrial mixed in.

Actually, although chronologically concurrent with the Nu-metal movement, Manson was in no way Nu-metal. His sound was a fairly straight progression of the kind of stuff NIN and Ministry were doing before him. If you compare Manson to archetypal nu-metal like Korn, Papa Roach, Limp Bizkits, there is little or no comparison.

Re: Marilyn Manson

Manson is definitely industrial...not all but a vast majority is...and Korn, Slipknot and all those other nu-metal bands have very different sounds to Manson.

Re: Marilyn Manson

I mean, he's not that industrial, compared to say something like Throbbing Gristle, more in the industrial lite vein as Pioneered by Ministry. But yeah, definetly not numetal.
