The Dead Kennedys are up there with Black Flag as one of the single most important US hardcore bands, I loved them dearly as a kid and I still spin the old "Nazi Punks Fuck Off" 7" on a regular basis.

However, the sad fate which has befallen them (like so many other once great bands) kind of shites allover their legacy to me.

Honestly, I've been bashed various times by saying this, but Biafra's got some killer stuff with the Melvins.
Also, his spoken word stuff is legendary.

I agree totally, even though i think Melvins have done better albums, that's still the best i've heard of dead kennedys (Jello Biafra). I'm not denying their importance to all punkmusic and their legacy and all that, but as always they can't beat The Melvins, no one can really. Anyway, to get back to the point, i must say the album "Never breathe what you can't see" with Jello biafra and the melvins is worth checking out even though you're not a Melvins-fan. Cause it sounds like nothing melvins done before. Really good stuff.

I DO like the "give me convenience or give me death"-album as well though.

DK are great. I bought Fresh Fruit a few years back and was hooked immediately. Plastic Surgery Disasters is better in my opinion though. And you can't beat the re-issue that comes with the "In God We Trust Inc." EP. Great stuff.
