Slayer have recorded some of the seminal thrash albums I agree. But:

1. They'll never be as good as Venom.
2. They're well past it.

First of all and second, I have never been a mager fan of thrash metal but however i don't mind slayer and i am going to see them soon when they are touring with unholy aliance, Woo can't wait .

I only just got "Christ Illusion" and I think what I've heard so far is pretty good, so I don't know about them being past it.:no:

I mean hell, what I've heard so far puts to shame a lot of shit around at the moment, their current contemporary can't stand up to a band that's been around for so long, you'd think they'd have run out of ideas and the newer dudes would be showing up with good shit.:smile:

I'd say your right as far as putting younger bands to shame goes. Unfortunately that says more for the poor standard of the young bands than it does for Slayer still being fierce.

For evidence of my point, Slayer where once groundbreakingly extreme. Now they do the same album every three or four years with no new ideas. Bands like Orthrelm or Aanal Nakrath make them sound quaint.
