What Is Good Music?

What is good music?

What do you consider good music? Is it the skill of the artist or band, the creativity of the music, or just something that sets off some sort of emotion? I'm not really looking for bands or genres here.

For me its a mix of all of the above but mainly (as cheesy as it may sound) it has to do with creating some sort of emotion, something that effects my mood.

It can be all of the above. But the music that does the most for me fires my imagination, be that through the notes or the sentiment. Anything played with feeling by the musician.

For me song should have good lyrics and good guitar play.
Plus a nice video is necessary .

Good music, to me, is something that matches my mood at the moment. It also has to have good lyrics & good guitar.

Good rythem, meaningful lyrics, good singing, and something I can play sports or get pumped up too.

Something moving, nice lyrics, perhaps a story to it, emotionally sang and hopefully a good looking singer

For me it's the cretivity of the music. I love music that sounds different than what I hear everyday. I love bands that are original.

"good music" is whatever appropriately fits the situation.

Slayer would hardly be 'good' grocery store backround music.

now, if it were a record shop leaning towards such music.. then it'd be good music

Good music in my book: good lyrics, complex music, good interpretation (good vocalist, good instrumental part). I like a song to express something.

the more emotion the better, and energy, theres nothing like a band that you can just feel the energy, of course you want to hear good songs, but good energy and emotion can really go a long way add in good lyrics, and good musicians you have somethin going for you

For me, good music has to to do one of two things. Either it makes me think, or it makes me feel. Lyrics, notes, it doesn't matter, so long as it can boggle my mind or tear at my heart. If a song can do both, it goes beyond good.

Good music IMO has to be interesting... it has to be progressive and experimental. melody, rhythm, even technical talent don't matter as much as music that can hold my attention.
