The future of metal

What do you think will be a new subgenre of metal? We have death, black and thrash, do you think there is enough following to create another subgenre? Will it return to something more simple and merge all the subgenre's together?

So we only have death black and Thrash?
What about funk metal? rap metal? doom metal? power metal? grind metal? folk metal?
Not to mention subgenres of subgenres; gore-grind, folk metal, orchestral black metal, porn grind, sludge metal.... etc etc etc

Genres and subgenres are most times creations of journalists. 99% of the bands currently labeled as "emo" would previously have been labeled something else as that is what would have been the current "trend".

Its nothing to do with "following". The big growth area in underground music right now is "noise" bands. When that gets old, something else will come along.
