Judas Priest
They are callled the 'driving force' of heavy metal. Or they drove heavy metal 'home'.
Do you agree? Disagree? Discusss....! (I will throw my hat in the ring as soon as the convo gets hot.......... Just assuring a decent debate.)

Disagree.
Althought they have a place in the history of metal, I think they're eclipsed by others. In many ways they pointed to the heavy metal style that would become world conquering with the NWOBHM movement, but at that time, 76-78 when Priest were recording what some consider there best material, Punk was exploding and making Priest look a bit lame. For me, although Maiden were later, they are also much better. |

Won't consider them as this, but they are an historical band with a serious influence. I hate when people generalize, this is why I can't agree with such statements, but overall Judas Priest knew their stuff and did create good music.

Re: Judas Priest
I love these guys. I mean, remember the first time you heard "you got another thing coming" and you just wanted to go crazy. These guys throw down a pumping beat and the lead singer really had a good thing going for him with the band before he went solo - which was the end of him.
Too bad really. |

Re: Judas Priest
"Driving force" means to me that others followed their lead, that they took metal to a different place or in a different direction. Bands like Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, Metallica, and of course AC/DC. That is your driving force. JP was along for the ride, as good as they were.

Re: Judas Priest
As opposed to other bands they may be 'in league' with, you feel even more a moron for listening to a band that sings in quasia-operactic vocals about motorbikes, boots, and tight leather.
