Re: Afi
They're good and bad at the same time. They are capable of making a great song like the Boy Who Destroyed the World, but then something like the cover of 99 Red Balloons is woeful. So they have their ups and downs. I will listen to it, but they aren't one of my favourtie bands.

Re: Afi
I liked Very Proud of Ya and Answer That and Stay Fashionable, I never listened to Shut Your Mouth because I doubt i'd like it much now. The All Hallow's EP was solid if I remember right though, havn't listened to it in forever. The new stuff is terrible, Decemberunderground was my ex's favorite record so I had to deal with it alot, it got old very very fast.

Re: Afi
I am a relatively new AFi fan (within last 2-3 years) but enjoy both old and new material. AFI lost a lot of fans after sing the sorrow because of thier newer more mainstream sound which is extremely different that alot of thier hardcore roots. However, true AFI fans have stayed loyal to the band's evolving sounds, even through davey and jade's electronica blaqkaudio project. I think thats just what good bands do- a lot of people would consider it a sellout, but I think its normal for good musicians to have an evolving sound that experiements and grows more and more fine-tuned through the years. Most interestingly though, is that really it wasn't until sing the sorrow and then the massive overplaying of miss murder that finally made AFI a household name and actually gave these guys that struggled for years some money in their pockets. I say good for them- i think all their stuff new and old is great. (I'd also like to mention that though their sound is less punk than it used to be, many of the bandmembers still maintain a hardcore ideology and lifestyle (ie:S8E) so essentially, they're still staying true to what they believe in.)

Re: Afi
Loved Girl's Not Grey a few years ago but never followed it up. Then about a year ago my 15 year old son kept playing music and after he answered 'AFI' to me asking about 20 different times 'Who's that - that's good' I sort of realised I must like them.
So have been listening since - and looking forward to the new album |
