Politics anyone?

Since music and politics are often connected I thought I'd bring up the idea of adding a politics forum. What does everyone think? Do you think we could keep active discussion in it?

Itd worth a bash, but this far the political debate has fizzled fairly quickly......

Political debates usually don't last long...or at least they don't stay intelligent for long. Once someone starts saying that they are right because the Bible says so....Or someone says that companies out for profit are all bad I stop listening.

If you are not willing to listen, and at least consider the possibility that you are wrong then there is no point in me talking to you.

I tend to go into a conversation with a VERY open mind, and listen to everything that someone has to say before I blow them off.....Sometimes people are just not that good at formulating an argument.

Very true, I've seen many debates that could be good conversation die because or close minded views.

Eh it's still good content for the search engines to pick up on, and after that the people searching.

We have state elections coming up in Victoria soon, next week actually. I've been following the campaigns pretty closely, to me it seems pretty one sided, in regards to who I am going to vote for. BUT THAT'S CONFIDENTIAL!

Oh, bah, you shouldn't mix music and politics. Hasn't anybody heard the Johnny Cash song, "The One on the Right is on the Left?"

Re: Politics anyone?

I tend to avoid the news and politics these days. I have been better off since doing so. I know enough through my husband as to what takes place though.

Re: Politics anyone?

Ive found that very few people of our generation are actually capable of having an interesting political debate... maybe make it a subforum of General Chat or something?

Re: Politics anyone?

Remember one thing about politics:

Politicians are vein, evil, ignorant, self-centered, self-serving, greedy thieves.

Left wing, right wing, moderate, democrat, republican, liberal, labor....It applies to them all.

Re: Politics anyone?

Well, i've seen it work on another forum but then again that takes alot of people really interested in discussing that. Personally I think when the site gets larger, yes for now if theres a political issue someone wants to discuss they could just make a thread on it and debate it there. Speaking from expierence thats done on another site i'm on and it works fine, every now and again we get a politica thread if some major issue happens and it does die out in a day or two.
