Sound Devastation!!
This is a thread for me to tell you all about Sound Devastation, the underground music industry and our releases, and to answer questions. Not really advertising, i just like to think that people might be interested!
The Beginning... SD used to be an e-zine, similar to this one. We'd review demos we got sent, bands we saw, albums we bought and did some pretty good interviews... got quite a following! Things went a bit strange when we started receiving the new Korn album, and Fall Out Boy's single.. along with 6 or 7 demos per week. It got rediculous so we decided to call it a day and focus elsewhere. But along the way we'd found some awesome bands... one of whom were Aotea, who were then on hiatus as they couldn't find a label to put out their album. So we spent a few months researching how to do it and did it! The Label... SD Records has been going for over a year now. We focus on the underground scene though our releases are 100% proper. They are manufactured professionally, and released officially. We deal with Shellshock Distribution who get our releases into HMV, Amazon, and indie shops all over the country. The website is designed and maintained by myself, and is obviously the home to the SD shop where you can buy all our releases, band merch, special offers... and most recently distro items (these are release 'swaps' with other labels). You can also find the media player there. We are also on myspace and Last.fm where you can listen to the bands. We're also an active part of a UK labels community, in which a group of similar sized british labels come together to share the costs of promotional materials and contacts. we put together a sampler CD which was free with Rock Sound magazine! you can now buy it off the site. Genre, Age, Location, Experience, fan base and popularity are not important when deciding whether or not we will work with a band. What is important is the band's expectations and commitment, and of course we have to adore their music! We will listen to any demos sent to us.. the address is on the site. It is not a job or a hobby.. we're just a pair of students living in the backstreets of nottingham in a house full of CDs. it takes up all our free time and all our money. our student loans and entire income goes towards this! The Bands... Aotea - spazz-jazz-indie-grindcore, album out now. this was our first venture and although not a money maker it taught us alot and the CD is stunningly good! Flatlands - ambient stoner doom, awesome guys who worked so hard for this EP.. our second release, also out now! From The Sky - beautifully epic post-rock mini-album which is released very soon! our first digipak and we're really excited! Sons of Alpha Centauri - Abrasive instrumental stoner rock. These guys are pros.. the most organised band ive ever met.. and perfectionists in every way. January release in a beautiful digipak with insert and professional artwork. Throw Stephanie in the Incinerator - more instrumental stoner rock of a totally different style. raw, progressive and good fun! we're releasing their demo-EP soon... very limited! the Pirate Ship Quintet - The Pirate Ship Quintet are our latest signing and will be released in the next few months. Their EP, mastered by Magnus Lindberg (from Cult of Luna if you dont know!) is an epic, beautiful masterpeice of strings, brass, piano and pummeling guitar riffs... drawing influences from the more progressive, compositional side of post-rock; Godspeed, A Silver Mt Zion, Esmerine, Anoice and the likes. This is going to be presented in a gorgeous red matte digipak with silver artwork... very special indeed Boxes Obi Got Ludo analysis of Bison Kills Naked Sh*t Monster Killed by Laser Cambodia Eye Zonderhoof Sunshine Republic Red Paper Dragon What Price? Wonderland They're all on myspace and all very different! have a listen. yeah.. so you know all about SD! cheers for reading. website - needs updating! myspace Last.FM |

Re: Sound Devastation!!
Thanks for the heads up and best of luck with the venture - sounds like you're developing some interesting sounds on there.
![]() You seriously need to do something about your websites, though. ![]() Also, would be nice if you could link to more of the band's music on MySpace. ![]() ADDED: Nice sound here: www.myspace.com/thepirateshipquintet ![]()
