the POST-ROCK thread!!!
Every good forum needs one!
Who are your favourites? personally im pretty fond of bands who use a classical or slight electronic influence... Anoice, Rachel's, Neil on Impression, We vs Death, Triosk, The Pirate Ship Quintet, World's End Girlfriend... also Bright Red Paper, Holy Fuck!, Souvenier's Young America, Grails, Gregor Samsa, Jeniferever. If you have no idea what im talking about.. look it up on wikipedia! i can provide upload links for people who are interested. |

I recently got into Gregor Samsa and I could've seen Grails with Giant but I couldn't find a ride.

Re: the POST-ROCK thread!!!
i think its a bit pathetic... they had some awesome ideas with the first album but then did nothing with them. the new one seems like it was made because they could rather than because they had some good ideas.

Re: the POST-ROCK thread!!!
I've not listened to their new one cause I'm still enjoying the old one having only recently come to it.
Sometimes it feels like half the world and their mum are starting post rock bands. |

Re: the POST-ROCK thread!!!
I haven't heard of any of these bands! Maybe I was thinking of a different genre. What are some more mainstream bands in this genre so I know if I can add some input and that I have the right idea?

Re: the POST-ROCK thread!!!
Godspeed and Explosions in the Sky are probably two of the most recognizable bands in Post Rock.
Has anyone listened to Te, they're Japanese and awesome, I've made a thread but it hasn't gotten any conversation and they are easily on of my favorite bands. Very driving up tempo stuff, definitely recommended,

Yeah, God Speed You Black Emperor/Explosions in the Sky, or more likely Mogwai. If you haven't heard of Mogwai, you will have heard their songs. They've been used in all sorts, sex in the city even... Miami Vice (movie)

Re: the POST-ROCK thread!!!
So I went and saw 65 days of Static play in edinburgh at Triptych last night. They were pretty good. Hour and a half was a bit over long though. Very loud. Much more rocking than I expected.
