Big brother liked all the old classics like Metalica etc. It's not my favourite genre though I can remember there being a couple of class tunes. I liked there Whiskey In The Jar cover.

I concur with Scott on that one. Whiskey in the Jar was an excellent cover.

Would you classify Muse as metal, Gibb?

muse are a complex band to genre, listen to stockholm syndrome then unintended then endlessly and try and say what genre they are

all that can be said are they are alt brit rock

True. Alternative is quite fitting at times though.

Thinking about it, every song offers something new and unique.

I think it's confirmed that Muse are not all metal then

The best way to find it out is not listening to them.

I agree with Grant. Muse are a mix of genres but I dont think they have that much of a Metal/Grunge feel to them to be quite honest. Also agree with Paul in that there are some class tracks around but Metal justdosent do it for me...Its old rock that does that, guns n roses, meatloaf cant beat it. :P

Ah, yes, metal is indeed great. Eldritch, Iron Maiden, Therion, Pain of Salvation, and Kamelot are just a few of my favourite metal groups.

I'm a huge metal fan, it's my favourite genre. I'm going through a huge Trivium phase at the moment.

I'm actually not a big fan of straight metal or heavy metal. But with sub-genres like Black and Death, I can't help but love it.

Definatly wouldn't classify Muse as metal.

But in refrence to Whiskey in the Jar cover, I've never heard it but I love that song.

I've heard a lot about Trivium.

Any songs you'd recommend I learn?

Trivium are metalcore, like Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, etc., so I can't really help you there. But I hear the song "Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr" referenced a lot, so that might be a good starting point.

None. Really terrible band, and not just because they're metalcore. They just can't play for shit. If you want some metalcore that's worth listening to, I suggest Darkest Hour's "Undoing Ruin". I wasn't too impressed with their earlier albums, but the lastest one actually blew me away. DH's guitarists can actually play some really complex riffs and solos, and the drummer does a great job. Pretty technical stuff, really. Plus, Devin Townsend produced the album.
