Re: Where do you get inspiration from?

for me, bad lyrics can destroy an otherwise good song...i mean, a song without lyrics is an instrumental after all. if yr gonna write a song and not bother sweating the lyrics and arrangement then perhaps it's time to rethink alot of things...maybe start doing nothing but instrumentals, even. |

Re: Where do you get inspiration from?
Lyrics come naturally to me, just getting the right combination is the hard part. However, without the right music, there's no point in continuing it. And that is where the biggest problem is. Music or lyrics first? Chicken or the egg?
My inspiration is from life, and emotions. I also get moods where I just sit for hours and write stuff, some good some bad. If I get one of these moods, I always write at least one song, and then if I feel like writing more I think about how to make a good song. |

Re: Where do you get inspiration from?
I usually (well, always) write my music first - then I do a super-rough recording in my home studio, burn it to disc, and put it in my car. I find an open country road where I can cruise undisturbed, give it a listen, and go with what comes to me.
