Pedals

Anyone got any pedals for their guitars here, any they can recommend?

I'm thinking of purchasing a couple of Boss Stompboxes. Including a digital delay and a tremolo, not sure about the other one though.

Can anyone tell me the difference between overdrive and distortion though?

I have a Line 6 DL4 Delay Modeler, Digitech Whammy, Marshall Bluesbreaker and am looking to invest in a Fuzz Factory/Probe and a big muff maybe.

Just looked that all up, very expensive rig you have there.

What sound do you go for? Alternative/Metal?

Digitech Whammy? Nice, that's the one Satch uses.

I myself have a Boss MT-2 Metalzone distortion (easily the best on the market - you can get overdrive sounds with it too, no need for a seperate one) and a Boss DD-3 Digital Delay. Good stuff. Also on my list (should be getting for my birthday) is a Dunlop Crybaby Wah 535q. From what I've heard it's great.

Back when my guitar wasn't broken, I used Boss Metal Zone, Digitech's Death Metal distortion or Digitech Metal Master. Metal Zone was probably the best pedal I've ever used. Mind you, I'm speaking in terms of using these things for producing a black metal sound, which they all did pretty well. Though the Metal Master was a bit too high quality (and expensive) for what I wanted it for. I still have it, but probably won't use it as much in the future.

Im not overly metal really. Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine and Matt Bellemy of Muse both use them, it is really versatlie, but expensive for what is it. The DL4 is amazing though, love that.

The Boss Metal zone? Or the Delay Modeler?

I've been having a look at pedals today, reckon i might mix up a tremolo pedal with a flanger. What do you guys think? I'll probably end up getting a Delay Modeler for christmas i think, as they look immense.

What about a whammy, recommended?

I don't think you need a Whammy pedal at this point, they're fairly expensive and really unnecessary unless you *really* want that sound.

A Tremolo with a Flanger would sound pretty cool I guess. Wah and distortion are really the most important though (to me, anyway). The rest are just for fun :-p

I was talking about the Whammy. They aren't necessary at all and only worth it if like h22s said, if you want that sound, I don't use it a huge amount.
Trem and a Flang are good pedals to start with, I would get a decent distortion too. Look at a chorus too maybe.

Chorus is great, wish I had one. Look into Boss pedals for all of those, especially the MT-2 for the distortion. Boss has excellent pedals for each of those effects.

Distortion gives more of a crunch, whereas I've always found overdrive to be more of a volume boost than anything. The Boss MT-2 Metalzone can do both, however.

Overdrive seems like a waste of money. There's better stuff out there, and the sound it gives isn't all that great.
