Wink say no to emophobia :P

hey I know most ppl around either despise emo or enjoy taking the piss of it (the latter being much more fun btw) but does ALL EMO SUCKS?! (please don't just say yes, at least add sum arguments).

Since this is section 2 talk about emo (not just slagg it off like) how about naming a band u like or u think it's any worth and it's commonly belived to be emo. C'mon there most be at least one!

How about Weezer? Modest Mouse? I think my favourite emo band is Desaparecidos and...yeah Motion city Sountrack! there there I said it :P

those band's aren't commonly considered emo, at least not by me. except maybe MCS, but I'm not familiar with their material. and Desaparecidos, I have no idea who they are.

Fan of emo(at least to some degree)... I'll admit it.
Weezer and Modest Mouse, aren't emo(majorly overused to classify new music).

When I think emo I think Jack's Manaquin, Something Corporate, old Midtown, Dashboard etc. (All bands I like pretty well)

I'm kinda mad about this whole overuse of "emo" thing.

I'm sorry but I do belive I've read more than once that Weezer and Modest Mouse r from the most representatives of emo!, cos emo it's more than this whole pre-teen wishy washy pop craze u know.
It wos neva suppose 2 be mainstream, it wos born in the 90s wiff bands like Jawbreak and Rites of Spring...and it wos often linked with indie but being much more 'alternative punk' and trully emotionaly sincere, punk on estrogen and all that, and about Weezer... tight jeans, rimmend glasses the whole nerdy look c'mon pure emo!, real emo or 90s pop emo at least. But who decides wots emo and wot's not anyway? :-| no really please tell us cos there must be sum1 we can trust :S (I fink that allmusic.com have consistent overviews for example)

h22s u might be more familiar wiff Bright Eyes, well Desaparecidos started as a side project of Conor Oberst (Britght eyes vocalist) but it's got a completely different sound though and while sum admire Oberst's songwritting talent (he recorded an indie-emo album at 14! with his band Commander Venus) others h8 their squeaky voice; I can't remember wot music mag called him the 21rst century Bob Dylan but I fink thats a bit excesive
