I wasnt a particular fan of Pink Floyd. But Syd Barret was a huge influence to many of the bands that i love at the moment so in that way he is a legend to me.

not everyone was into Pink Floyd.

From what I can see, not a lot of young people nowadays were really converted because Pink Floyd have been nowhere near mainstream in quite a few years.

I got converted by a friend of mine, Scott. Syd Barret's dead was a great loss to many people, although I don't think it really made a huge impact upon the music scene. Say as much as John Peel's dead did.
