Best Cure album?

The Cure are one of those groups that can provide really different sounds on their albums.

I've got "Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me", "Staring at the Sea" and "Disintegration
and they've all got different but great sounds (yes, I know - Staring at the sea is a compilation but a nice round-up on the earlier years).

However, I could never get into "The Cure - The Cure".

Anyone like to recommend any other albums by The Cure, or do I already have the best?

I always really liked "Wish". "From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea" has long been a favourite of mine.

Staring at the Sea is great. But you should give Pornography a try, too. People tend to have a love/hate relationship with that album.

I agree. Pornography is often heralded as one of the Cure's top three albums, but I never got into it.

I really enjoy Head On The Door. Yes, it has the poptastic favourites Close To Me and Inbetween Days, but Six Different Ways and Push are definitely amongst the Cure's finest works.

Does anyone else on here have that Glove album? Sounds like Robert Smith & Steve Severin tripping on acid. :-)

My favourite Cure album is The Head On The Door.

A good compilation of the Cure is Join The Dots, a varied collection of B-sides and rare tracks, some really good tunes on that album.

There's also some very nice photos in the booklet that comes with it.

I was really excited when that boxed set first came out. I've got enough Cure stuff in this house to start a small museum

Re: Best Cure album?

The first Cure album that I ever owned was Mixed Up. I recieved it as a gift something like 16 years ago. Because it was my first, it's probably my favorite even though it's not a true Cure album, but instead a remix album.

I also love Disintegration, Head on the Door and Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me.

Holy smokes, has it been that long? I remember being surprised that they'd release an album of re-mixes, when Mixed up came out.

Ha ha ha! It makes you feel old doesn't it? It was released in October of 1990. It doesn't really seem like that long ago, but I guess time flies.
