Must admit I find it hard listening to Morrisseys solo material, it just hasn't got the spark that The Smiths had.

Not hear any of the material that Johnny Marr released after the break up of The Smiths.

My problem with the Morrissey solo material is that it's way over-produced sounding. Most of the early Smiths recordings prior to "Louder Then Bombs" had a sort of raw, organic quality to the sound.

I particularly like the sound of that first album, even though Johnny Marr said in an interview that he though it sounded too "toppy". I'm guessing that must have had something to do with John Porter, because the Ryan Adams album he produced has some of the same tonal qualities.

He did really excellent guitar work with The The. When he tried his hand at singing with Johnny Marr & The Healers, it just wasn't very interesting. Now he's with Modest Mouse.
