Re: Bright Eyes
I don't think he really has, lyrically he started going downhill at around lifted and it could just be the whole country thing but his voice isn't nearly as passionate. I think Cassadaga is okay, but nothing stands out so I don't really listen to it. I think Wide Awake is good, but I kind of burnt out on it. I think Wide Awake gets too much positive/negative attention when Digital Ash doesn't get much and is worse.

Re: Bright Eyes
agreed digital ash was too different from normal bright eyes for most people to listen to, but i still think it was a solid album
as far as lyrics, they just got less direct after lifted I'd say

Re: Bright Eyes
Lyrically, they are weaker and musically they are less creative. On Lifted and Fevers and Mirrors and everything before that, he had a unique sound that couldn't really be compared to anyone else. Wide Awake sounded like a plain old, minimal folk album and Cassadaga is a boring, more upbeat, general folk album. Don't get me wrong, I tried and tried to really like both of these albums, but when compared to such gems as Lifted... and Fevers and Mirrors, they're just boring and not as good. And Digital Ash wasn't even that good when compared to other electronic type albums.
