Re: hardcore forum
So both are absurd. I think that means it works, and you don't. Why don't you suggest a system for genre catagorization? Since, obviously, adding a hardcore forum would only cure the symptom, not the disease.

To palm of hardcore as a sub-genre of either metal or punk, is lazy at best and blindingly stupid at worse. Same for Rock/post rock which would have little of nothing in common. Like I said if you wanna run everything together into a big sticky toffee pudding, well great. But your punk and metal forums both readlike hardcore forums currently...... "think that means it works, and you don't." Oh. So its like that is it? I can post fifteen pages of expletitives ridden flame war if you want but I sorta thought mods were meant to sort problems rather than start them. |

Re: hardcore forum
Stop reading into my usertitle. I didn't make the forums, and I don't decide how they work. I'm posting as a user, not as a mod. If you're going to be hostile by default, then great. I can go do something else. I'm not trying to "start problems". And neither did I claim hardcore was a sub-genre of anything, but rather that there are no subgenre forums, so people generally have to settle for whatever seems the least wrong. And that as long as everyone does that, I don't see the problem. The alternative is having 200 forums, and that just wouldn't be better, in my opinion.

Re: hardcore forum
well, i figure, seeing as how you are the mod you would have some decision making ability?
or do you not want people to view you as having any responsibility at all? im not trying to bash anyone, i was just glancing through, and that seemed like the overall consensus. I dont see how adding one more area of the board is going to lead to "200" sub forums, plenty of other forums are condensed and manage to have a hardcore and emo section. Again, not trying to start anything..>.> |

Re: hardcore forum
Naw, I don't make any decisions. I just make suggestions. My only responsibility is that people don't treat other people like shit, so as long as you behave, you can see me as having little to no power. I'm mostly just a forumgoer. : )
I think the catagorization of the fora is very much under debate, and will probably change alot. This thread will definitely be taken into account as that happens, so don't think you're falling on deaf ears. It's being discussed. EDIT: ..and the comment wasn't really aimed at you, matious. |

The point wasn't that we'll neccessarily need 200 forums at the end of the day, but that if hardcore punk doesn't go under punk, postrock shouldn't go under rock, dark wave and new wave don't belong in the same forum, dnb and industrial have nothing in common, blabla. Suddenly there's a list of stuff that doesn't make sense. If I'm wrong, just tell me. I'm not claiming any authority here, I'm just participating in the thread. |

They were dark. Gloomy and panicy and generally just sad. It's not pop. I'm sure there are a million darker bands, but they were still goth. |
