Re: hardcore forum

I think an emo/hardcore forum is a good idea, for one emo and hardcore have evolved way away from punk. With emo in the 90s you had it come more into it sounds with screamo and then sort of break away with post-emo like Cap'n Jazz and Joan of Arc taking emo elements and blending them with indie and other things. Theres a huge scene thats pretty alienated since punk/metal fans hate the word emo even if they only know what MTV passes of as emo is. With hardcore its just so different, you have bands that started it like Black Flag and Minor Threat who are still obviously punk influenced but more recently you have stuff like Converge who don't sound very punk at all but obviously hardcore and bands like the Fall Of Troy taking progressive influences from Rush and such, and the Blood Brothers who take some emo influences and basically what i'm trying to say is emo and hardcore have evolved and they're most certainly different from punk now. Put on White Riot by the Clash then Crowquill by Circle Takes The Square and you'll see a huge difference.

I've seen emo/hardcore forums on other forums i've gone too, they're just a sub-forum to punk and it works well. Theirs just as much activity (and on one of the forums more in the emo forum) in each, but the bands are different while they still share common roots. Plus as I said earlier punk fans are pretty anti-emo, and metal fans aren't big on alot of hardcore.

And as wilthetank pointed out, theres already alot of emo/hardcore threads in the punk/metal forum. I'd happily contribute a bunch too, as well as an article on emo I wrote and an article on screamo a friend wrote.

Its 4am I would continue making points but I really need sleep, i'll sum this up quickly for people too lazy to read that all. Emo/Hardcore has evolved past its punk roots and definetly aren't the same thing. Metal/Punk fans don't typically care for emo/hardcore which causes an unnecessary amount of arguing. Its worked well on other forums i've been on. Gooodnight and please excuse any sentence, spelling, or grammatical errors i've had a long night. =)

You my man, have clearly never been stuck in a minibus with a bunch of fat, wet goths. Try telling em that the Cure are a goth band and see what happens. Mutiny I'll tell you. MUTINY.

Re: hardcore forum

Thats my metal thread it should stay in metal!

anyway, yes.. there should definately be a hardcore forum.

however.. i cant help thinking that all music forums end up the same. which is a bit of the shame.

Re: hardcore forum

Okay, good points made overall - I *am* old school so the board structure reflects that, but if that means it looks out of touch, then the problem is with me and I need to address that.

Ok, I'll get Emo and Hardcore boards added, and see if we can let someone take charge of that area.

I still think we're playing with sub-genres here,

far covers that, but if that means doing so means Emo & Hardcore are going to be

Re: hardcore forum

Added: The Cure & Nick Cave stay in goth, though, as they are old-school goth culture bands by most definitions.
