Re: hardcore forum

Still re-arranging the threads and boards, wilthetank - it was suggestion that there was a ton of already present threads on electronica stuff, so it made more sense to set up a new genre board that is very distinct to all the others.

A hardcore board doesn't really make much sense to myself at present as we're basically talking a subgenre of punk, and it seems to make better sense to let the punk board brow until such time as it *needs* subgenre areas to help better find threads on specific bands.

Hope that helps.

No offence, but that is clearly the opinion of someone who doesn;t listen to much in the way of punk or hardcore. I've just taken a squizz in there, and the catagorisation going on makes no sense whatsoever. If your going to be oblivious to the differences then you may as well merge punk and metal together under one "loud antisocial music" banner.

there are 12 threads in electronic though
there would be at least double-triple that in a hardcore forum and the same with emo, without a doubt, and emo and hardcore could easily be combined and all the bands talked about and there would be a ton of threads in there, as well as people to talk about the music.

Re: hardcore forum

Hardcore is such a vague genre though. Hardcore what? Hardcore punk? Hardcore techno? Everyone wants to claim the hardcore genre for themselves and the only thing they have in common is this eagerness to be louder and more agressive.

If there really are so many threads about "hardcore" bands, where are they? Why don't you make a post with some links to the threads that belong in a hardcore or emo forum, and maybe that will help us see how it could possibly be neccessary.

And as for the current catagorization; The forums are meant to be as general as possible. The genre "rock" could be virtually anything. Radiohead, AC/DC, Mogwai. I think the idea is that there's supposed to be a logical forum in which to post any given thread about a band, not one for every genre. Less is better, in my opinion. I think the forum catagorization makes perfect sense. But that's just my 2 cents.

Re: hardcore forum

And when postrock and rock are in the same forum could you explain again why it's so absurd that punk and hardcore punk shouldn't be?
