The Prodigy

I remember, growing up in the 90's, that people used to consider The Prodigy some sort of techno band that only ravers and punks listened to. It was uncool to like them (hell, it was uncool to like techno), and so I didn't. Years later I picked up Fat Of The Land, and wow what an album.

It's also very versatile, I don't know what genre to put it in. Techno? Hardhouse? Dance?

Re: The Prodigy

Depends what album. Music for the Jilted Generation is one of the best albums of the 90's, one of the only real "dance" albums. It was that record that they were touring when they were at their peak. By the Fat of the land they'd sort of become a bit of a self parody, adding Gizz Butt on guitar and stuff.

And I dunno about Uncool. Rave was were it was at in Youth Circles in the UK in the early 90's.

WIND-IT-UP!

Re: The Prodigy

Well, I grew up in Norway. There was no rave except in oslo, and I lived 10 hours away.

Re: The Prodigy

Prodigy r great still can't stop luving 'Outer Space' I reckon rave music was when dance music was good - still a bit of a rebel counterculture thing going on - but now it's all clubland extreme bollocks - and unimaginative formulaic music just to make it easier to mix - tell it to Kool Herc

Re: The Prodigy

Not impressed by the lack of love here. The Prodigy have pioneered dance music in the UK for the past 15yrs. Liam likes to rip stuff off, but does it in a way that starts something else off.

Don t know where or millions of others would be without them.

Viva La Prodigy. One of the only dance acts that smacks it live too. (apart from us. Hee hee)
