Jeff Mangum is brilliant, this band is sort of like the Decemberists or the Mountain Goats I suppose, except I think better. In The Aeroplane Over the Sea is the only one i've heard and its one of my favorite albums ever. Two-Headed Boy Part 2 is an amazing song.

I've only ever heard a few tracks, but people keep announcing their greatness. I'll make sure to get The Aeroplane Over the Sea, since you seem to know what you're talking about. : )

I all for this one I love the soft sound of the band the happy pop just brings a smile to my face its a sure band to get into anther song I like is
"Holland 1945 " its more up beat and its a nice little tune.

"Communist Daughter" is my favorite Neutral Milk Hotel. In The Aeroplane Over the Sea is a brilliant album. It took me a while to grow on me though.

I love Holland, 1945. The guitars on it are so fuzzy but it makes the song really catchy I think. So this is a stupid question but... is it supposed to be about Anne Frank?

Amazed how many fans of this band I see online. I think it's 5 and counting.

I love "You Passed". Need to pick up a hell of a lot more of their stuff---I keep forgetting.

If you're into this band, check out Matt Pond PA. THey cover the song In the Aeroplane Over the sea on their EP Winter Songs. I'm sure you can download it from somewhere or get it from itunes for a buck. I know a lot of people who are into neutral milk, belle & sebastian, etc. also like matt pond pa as well. Tell me what you think if you end up listening to any of their songs

I can hear why people rate them so highly, but it just doesn't click for me for some reason. Maybe it's that people have taken the idea further, I dunno.
