My Bloody Valentine
One of the greatest bands ever. If your heart doesn't break whenever you hear "Sometimes", then you need to see a doctor. Loveless is a masterpiece. These guys, along with Slowdive, are the best dream-pop/shoegaze/whateverelseyouwanttocallthem band to have emerged for quite awhile.
Who else is excited that Kevin Shields and his gang will be making a new album sometime soon? |

Re: My Bloody Valentine
Never really heard much My Bloody Valentine, though I remember one song "No more sorry" I think it was called, but didn;t really drag me in.
Really liked Slowdive's "Just for a Day", though - always break that out when really depressed. ![]()

Re: My Bloody Valentine
I haven't heard Just For a Day yet actually, but I really need to. Souvlaki is amazing though.
And you should check out Loveless for sure. "No More Sorry" is from Isn't Anything which, despite being a good album, is not as good as Loveless. |

Re: My Bloody Valentine
Loveless is a work of genius. To be honest, as usual, I'm nervous of anyone revisiting their past glories, when expectations are so high. Surely it can only be a dissapointment?

Re: My Bloody Valentine
umm i'm pretty sure my bloody valentine has never seen the light of day on mtv and they've been around quite a while, loveless was released in the early 90's i think... but i recently got into them and also agree that loveless is *the* shoegaze album. 'only shallow' and 'i only said' are my top tracks and definitely required listening for any shoegaze fan.

Re: My Bloody Valentine
Loveless is just the best damn guitar rock record of the 90s. Hating based on hype is unfair. Hating based on hype from one little pocket on the internet is just plain stupid. Anyway don't worry, MBV isn't around anymore. They only made 2 LPs.
Loveless came out in '91 and the band did go broke making it. The blame has been passed around, but it was probably Shields' obsession with guitar experimentation that was to blame. Debbie Googe went on to become a NY cab driver of all things. I read an interview where she talks about picking up Brita Phillips and taking her to a gig; apparently a very embarrassing moment for her. Of course anyone hellbent on defying what they believe to be the status quo will manage to hate on it, but for the rest there's no reason in the world not to pick up this record. |

MBV were a fantastic band, one I've been putting on quiet often of late, and Kevin continues to weave his magic in the world of music. Whether or not rekindling MBV is a good idea or not is something to be seen though, as most people would agree I'm sure, most 'comebacks' simply pale in comparison to the original highs. Unless you're Bowie, you're only ground breaking once.

They're not emo. They have nowt to do with emo. Just because you dislike something, doesn't mean to say you can just attribute it to being "emo". That just makes you look like a retard who knows nothing about music other than what MTV shouts at them. |
