Talking Heads

David Bryne is one of my favorites. 77, Fear of Music, and Remain in Light are my favorite.

Also made, the incredibly boring "True Stories" film in 1986 =/

Re: Talking Heads

2 great albums matious.
The live album 'Stop Making Sense' is my favourite live album ever.
Have you heard the Eno/Byrne collab album, 'My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts'?

Re: Talking Heads

It's a live performance on stage, but filmed brilliantly.
I have it on VHS...not seen it for years though.
The film starts with Byrne singing Pyscho Killer, on his own and playing acoustic. If you've not seen it, it's a must.
Watch out for the big suit.

Nah...not seen it and I know what you mean about the artsy stuff, going off the clips I have seen.
I'm not even sure what it's about.

Quality use of a cassette player too.

Fantastic band. I've a copy of the original demos here somewhere, with alternate lyrics on the above mentioned song.

Re: Talking Heads

Apart from the already mentioned albums, I've got the remastered Naked, not my favourite but a few tracks are sweet, and an MP3 copy of the Rare 12" Mixes album, which is very nice.

There's samples here...

Talking Heads - Rare 12" Mixes - Ccr (tlk001)

Re: Talking Heads

Amazing band. I thought "Little Creatures" was a cool album. He wrote it about his sister having a baby. I sang some of the songs with my babies.

Baby, baby,
he's just a plaything.
I wanna make him stay
up all night.

Re: Talking Heads

I found the Stop Making Sense record at the antique mall pretty cheap...it was so funny when I was trying to get into new bands my friends weren't listening to and for some reason the Talking Heads sounded like something I would probably like, but I didn't know what they sang...then it turned out they sang a lot of songs I know! I love when it works out that way.

Re: Talking Heads

Oh, yeah, they were pretty popular. Whatever happened to them, anyway? Did they just fade away?

Re: Talking Heads

Pretty much, yeah. They started off brilliant, got merely very good, then when they weren't even that, Bryne went off and did his own thing.

Re: Talking Heads

Bryne has his own record label, last thing i heard he was going around africa finding quirky little bands to sign.

He also held some conference on solutions to illegal downloading of music, he even admitted to doing it himself there.
