Kings of Leon

I haven't really heard much of their stuff, and people rave about them, so I was wondering what genre they are, what they're like and that sort of thing. Thoughts?

Re: Kings of Leon

I like them and would buy their CD if I had money. I would say they are kind of alternative rock kind of thing...

Re: Kings of Leon

The first album was very retro-southen rock/blues. The second one had more of a garage feel in places and I haven't heard the third one.

The thing about KoL is the first single off "aha shake heartbreak" "The Bucket" is actually one of the most perfect retro styled rock songs I have ever heard. It a phenomenal tune, but its sooo much better than any of their other songs that I can't really be bothered with the rest of their stuff.

Re: Kings of Leon

KoL seems to shoot for a totally different sound for each album. Youth and Youth Manhood seemed very garage, while their newest, Because of The Times, seems very clean comparitively. Maybe their mostly hipster fan base is shaping their music?

Love Kings Of Leon, 1st 2 albums are quality, i'm only just slowly warming to the 3rd. Saw them at The Doncaster Dome the other and they were quality, one of the best gigs i have been to.

These guys just plain rock, I think they have helped maintain the true rebellion of rock rather than the sniffling emo music that we see way too often these days. They had an awesome live show too.

Re: Kings of Leon

go check out the video of their performance on acl (austin city limits) and while your there watch the interview it gives you a good idea about how they would want to be classified anyway (which I would tend to agree)

Re: Kings of Leon

Huge KOL... Because of Times is my favorite album of theirs. I cant pick a fav song, but once i start the album I will listen to it up to and including Black Thumbnail before I have realized it. Plus, they are INCREDIBLE live.

Never been massively sold on KOL, but everyone's talking about the new album being amazing. Might have to check it.
