Bloody Panda

Been loving the new record by this band Bloody Panda "Pheromone". They're sort of art-doom if you like. Some metal dudes from NY with a Japanese performance artist doing vocals, which lends it some nice out of the box moments. More atmospherics and power, than thrash, blood and guts.

They have a split release out wih Kayo.dot, but I've not heard that one. This is definetly one of the best things I've heard so far this year.

Its on Levelplane records, so its interesting that the label is diversifying so much.

Re: Bloody Panda

The split is worth picking up, as Kayo Dot's track is some of their best work.

Pheremone is stunning.. been waiting for it ever since the release of the split and it doesnt disappoint. The only thing that stops me from saying "potential album of the year" is the fact that it seems a little bit short... leaves me wanting another 10 minutes.

Level Plane are becoming one of my favourite labels though...

They maybe woulda been my favourite label circa-99 but they've gotten a little too big these days. Put out a few more rank records in recent years, but they're back on track a bit now.
