Reggae
Other than the punk/hardcore scene, my primary musical interest is old reggae stuff, roots and dub in particular, although I'm a big fan of trad ska and rocksteady too.
Now I'm not talking Bob Marley (nothing wrong with a bit Bob but its more of a reggae/rock hybrid) more stuff like Lee "Scratch Perry" and The Upsetters, King Tubby, The Congos, Burning Spear, Yabby-U, Studio1, Culture, Big Youth, etc etc I'm quite lucky as the local club scene for dub here is pretty big. Saw Max Romeo last year which was amazing, U-Roy was over too. There's two local Soundsytem's (Messenger and Blueberry) wich both have truely gut loosening bass bins. There was a Soundclash a while back which was VERY impressive stuff. |

Re: Reggae
I really liked a lot of the early Steel Pulse stuff. I loved a lot of Aswad and Maxi Priest, too. Such is the fate of an American adolescent living in Europe in the 80s. The good news is, I never got the appeal of 80's hair bands.
