Jacksonville, FL bands

There seems to be a resurgence of Jacksonville, FL as a hot bed of new rock bands, much liek when it was the home of Southern rock in the 70's (Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special, Molly Hatchett). It started with Limp Bizkit. Now there is Yellowcard, Red Jump Suit Apparatus, and Shinedown. Does any one know of any other Jacksonville, FL bands on the rise?

I wish I knew, when I lived in Jacksonville, we were too busy listening to old records outside of Vinyl Frontier when it was open. I recently heard that it reopened though. Are you from the area or just interested in artists from the area?

I used to go every year to visit relatives in Jacksonville but it has been many years now since I have been there. I remember though that there were quite alot of clubs where local bands could be seen and heard. Sounds like it might still be like that.

Re: Jacksonville, FL bands

When I lived there, it almost felt like a step back in time. The part about sitting outside listening to records, then when my friend had his Tuesday night DJing gigs he'd play retro stuff. We'd all meet up there for the latest "indie" or "avant garde" band and sit around with beers and commenting on either how cool they were and needed to buy a record or simply stating they sucked but still sat and observed. It feels like everyone is "the cool kid" and that's why I miss it!
