Jean Michel Jarre

When I was a kid someone recorded most of Rendez-Vous, Oxygene, and Equinox onto a C90 tape, and used to especially listen to it when I wanted to concentrate, such as when doing homework.

It can be seriously haunting yet ambient at times - I've never been able to get into most of his other stuff - as if these three basically epitomise the best of the Jean Michel Jarre sound.

Anyway, the past week I've been suddenly remembering the tunes in my head while working, so now I've ordered the above three for my birthday.

Anyone else here listened to Jean Michel Jarre? If so, have you heard Rendez Vous, Oxygene, or Equinox? How do you feel they compare to some of his other albums?

Re: Jean Michel Jarre

Its weird you say that, cause my dad had a c-90 with all that era of stuff on it, Oxygene, Equinox, even Popcorn and it was one of the first tapes I ever really played when I was about 7 or 8 years old. I haven't had a copy since, but I retain a massive soft spot for him.

I remember he did the soundtrack for the Amstrad 464 game Captain Blood, that was good!

Just listening to Oxygene now - sounds really great. I can see a serious rival coming on late-70's electronica.

Re: Jean Michel Jarre

Equinoxe is Jarre's second album that is my favorite one ,He developed his sound using more dynamic and rhythmic elements, for the most part a greater use of sequencing on bass lines,

Now
Oxygene are available in many famous music shops.
