Fucked Up
One of the more interesting bands to appear in the last few years. Two things in particular that make them appealing to me. Firstly they are in no way metal, but they still have a superb aggresive style to their sound (and despite it sounding simple, theirs some fairly clever bits in there, particularly the full lenght on Jade Tree).
But more important, the band have a lot to say for themselves, they're not afraid to court controversy. Nor do they simply regurgitate punk cliches. They actually have a blog as opposed to a website....Looking For Gold they're a funny bunch. they kinda cross some traditional punk boundaries, mainly I think to piss off exactly those who are annoyed by bands doing this. I'd recommend the CD collection of their early singles, essential stuff.

Re: Fucked Up
Nice post above.
I have heard one of the songs and liked it. As they were in kerrang magazine for a good live performance I was curious how good the music was. 3 guitarists though. A decent modern band. I still prefer the classics, but a good band nonetheless. |

Re: Fucked Up
Both times i've seen them i've thought they were terrible. I had a few tracks on my mp3 which i thought were quite good but they just can't pull it off live. Everything melded into on continous three chord song. The singer has a fuck load of energy though.

Re: Fucked Up
ye dude. very no harm done/circle jerks style. the only problem i've had, not directly with the band but with the media, is that mainstream radio will not put on fucked up. because 3 in the afternoon playing their new single, what are they going to say? "listen to effed up" nah dude. i like them though, another great hardcore band

Re: Fucked Up
Check out Ben Cook, the guitarist's old band, No Warning. Very different. Really mosh heavy but really well written hardcore, rather than the usual mosh hardcore written now.
Also, Ben was one of the lead roles in the Goosebumps Tv programs. Pointless trivia. |
