Blonde Redhead

I was a bit skeptical about listening to the new Blonde Redhead album, "23". I took a listen to it and i actually ended up enjoying it. I'm never really sure with this band sometimes because most of their albums are fairly mediocre. Yet, the songs that are good , I really get into a lot. For instance, the title track, 23 is an awesome song and so is Heroine. If you have it or are interested in giving it a listen, I'd recommend it. HOwever, this is definitely not the album you want to purchase first if you have not heard any of their music.

Re: Blonde Redhead

I'm apprehensive about the new album, SPIN said there was going to be a whole slew of Blonde Radiohead comments, I may check it out but I don't know i've never been big on Radiohead and i'm not too into Blonde Redhead aside from a few songs I like.

Re: Blonde Redhead

What is with you guys? since 23 came out I've hated it, loved it, heard it on live performance and got sick of it. What made you talk about it now?!
And my thoughts on the album now adds up to a mediocre album. Fits perfectly to its released year- mediocre 2007.

Re: Blonde Redhead

I think the track "melody" is such a unique track and the percussion is so awesome.

Re: Blonde Redhead

I have to admit, I don't like "23" at all. It's nowhere near as good as "Fake Can Be Just As Good" and "Melody Of Certain Damaged Lemons". Their old, noisy records had a strange intensity whereas "23" is some mediocre mix of Shoegaze and Pop. "23" the song, is quite addictive though. It just doesn't really have the same power as, say the first track off their self titled debut album, "I Don't Want U".

Re: Blonde Redhead

they take a bit of getting used to, I think.
I didn't actually know they'd done a new album, I'll have to get that.

Re: Blonde Redhead

All of their albums are really good. Some are more impressive than others.
But I think "23" is the poppest of all of them, in a really good way. It opens beautifully and it has some really great tracks. Some tracks I find kind of mediocre towards the end, but at least the first 7 are great.
