I don't know what about you guys, but personally, I think that this year in indie music does suck.

It began ok and slowly got duller and duller while all the new releases, even of great bands like Interpol, were mediocre at best. Thank god for the new Okkervil River.

What do you guys think? What were the best albums of 2007 so far?

2007 has been a year for discovering old bands, most of the new stuff has been shit.

that said the band of horses album rocks and i have high hopes for okkervil river!!!!!!

And how come nobody said anything about Arcade fire? (though if you ask me it's way overrated)

I liked alot of albums this year New Moon, The Stage Names and The Magic Position being my favorites. Others I liked were All Of a Sudden I Miss Everyone, You You're A History In Rust, The Best Damn Thing, the Destruction Of Small Ideas, Hissing Fauna Are You the Destroyer?, Neon Bible, Friend Opportunity, Sky Blue Sky, Wincing the Night Away, Challengers, Release the Stars, and On Letting Go. Those were just by bands/artists I liked prior to those releases.

Theres been a few major disappointments, Cassadaga being the biggest for me, Manipulator too. And from the four Rilo Kiley songs i've heard, that albums going to suck.

Cassedaga is not a greta album but it does have some great songs on it.

Arcade Fire does get a lot of press, but I don't think they're overrated - just becoming more mainstream. The new Shins was excellent, as was Sky Blue Sky (wilco). Also, what about Writer's Block (peter bjorn and john)? I think that's the best album this year.

But yeah, Rilo Kiley blows now, and Cassedaga is lame.

Writer's Block is a great one, but it's 2006.

four winds is the worst song on the album in my opinion. Lime tree and make a plan to love me are the best in my opinion.
coat-check dream song, i like it, but it gives me weird feelings.

I think the four winds ep was better than cassadaga.

Yeah, the new Rilo Kiley album is garbage, you can pick up the same album under some different artists name, those artists being: Paris Hilton, Fergie, well you get the idea.

I've already got tickets to see them in spetember. I guess assuming the labum would be good was a mistake, I'm sure it be an okay show, they always play some old stuff.
If only I could have seen them when take offs and landings came out.

This year has been dead. Emo music has been crowned king of all punk, which pissed me off.

Some bands I can listen to in the whole emo thing, but the thing that shits me is the 14, 15, 16 year olds walking around wearing Dead Kennedys, Misfits, and other bands shirts pretending the emos are the ones who made it all happen.

so my sister got me a subscription to blender magazine. it sucks, but they had a rilo kiley review and it 4 1/5 out of 5 stars. I listened to it thinking i may like it.

i was wrong.
