Tori Amos: from the choirgirl hotel

Of all the Tori Amos releases, I think this is my favourite so far. She really let's herself out with a passion - it's got a real upbeat tempo and far more versatile with the instrumentation. Her piano is great, but it's so nice to have this kind of variation and versatility.

It also has a unique style of voice - too often before she's skirted awfully close to seeming derivative of Kate Bush.

Black Dove, Raspberry Swirl, and Jackie's Strength are probable favourites.

I was listening to it in the car today: Raspberry Swirl is such a great driving song will dodging the high speed traffic on the M60 around Manchester. Had to play it repeatedly.

It is a great album, and she certainly stretches out and takes more chances than on, say, Scarlett's Walk. I've lost the case, so I have no idea what the song names are, but I think I know which song Raspberry Swirl is!
