Re: Sad songs

Most depressing song I know would be Switchfoot - The Blues
you could also try "A smile that explodes" by Joseph Arthur and as mention above "I will follow you into the dark" is great

Re: Sad songs

Ouhg! only if there is a song that makes me sad, "On my own" stellastarr * ahhhh! You may derive a sigh.
This is the lyrics of the song, enough to realize the sadness ahhh makes me cry.

Well broken child,
Don't be afraid.
So many years,
Your future hasn't been made.
Someday you will understand,
I wish I could hold your hand...

But I'm doin the best that I can.
Doin the best that I can.

When the love-hate days
Turned into years,
Voices of her teardrops
Whispered into my ear.
She lives in a different room,
Says I'm not in love with her...

But I'm doin the best that I can.
Doin the best that I can,
On my own.

In the fight for life,
Who's gonna win?
Millions of people trying to get away.
You might be the last of mine
I wish I could force a smile...

But I'm doin the best that I can.
Doin the best that I can
On my own.

And you know there's a feeling
That a new day's on the rise.
And it scares me in a way,
But somehow I feel life.
So don't tell me that you're leaving
Cuz I won't know what to say,
When I'm going ahead with my plans.
Yes, I'm going ahead with my plans.
Do you realize that you have just
Kissed, kissed, kissed
It all away?
Cuz I was there when nobody cared
If you lived or you died this day.
Well now that you're back on your feet
Oh, you don't even talk to me...

But I'm doin the best that I can.
Yes, I'm doin the best that I can
On my own.

I'd say Lover, You Should've Come Over by Jeff Buckley:

Lonely is the room the bed is made
The open window lets the rain in
Burning in the corner is the only one
Who dreams he had you with him
My body turns and yearns for a sleep
That won't ever come
It's never over,
My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder
It's never over,
all my riches for her smiles when I slept so soft against her...
It's never over,
All my blood for the sweetness of her laughter...
It's never over,
She's a tear that hangs inside my soul forever...

But maybe I'm just too young to keep good love
From going wrong
Oh... lover you should've come over...

Re: Sad songs

don't call me sad but whenever I go through a break-up or miss someone I always listen to Chris De Burgh. The melody and lyrics are so powerful. There's one track Missing You which always seems to sum up the way I'm feeling.

Don't diss till you've actually tried.

BTW I'm also an Indie kid!!

Re: Sad songs

Forgot to post lyrics!

I've been missing you...Chris De Burgh

I've got the roses, I've got the wine,
With a little luck she will be here on time,
This is the place we used to go,
With romantic music and the lights down low,
And as you stand there amazed at the door,
And you're wondering what all this is for,
It's just a simple thing from me to you,
The lady that I adore, 'cos there's something,
That you should know, it's that

I've been missing you, more than words can say,
And that I've been thinking about it every day,
And the time we had just dancing nice and slow,
And I said now I've found you,
I'm never letting go;

There is no reason to the things that we do,
You can break a heart with just a word or two,
And take a lifetime to apologise,
When the one you love's in front of your eyes,
And I will fall to my knees like a fool,
If it's the only way of getting through,
You see if I think you are beautiful,
Someone else is going to feel it too,
So there's only one thing to do, tell you that

I've been missing you, more than words can say,
And that I've been thinking about it every day,
Well tonight's our night for dancing nice and slow,
Because now I've found you, I'm never letting go,
No, now I've found you, I'm never letting go;

I've been missing you... I've been missing you...
I've been missing you... I've been missing you, darling...
