Sad songs

Heey.
Well, my boyfriend went off to college and I miss him a lot. I only see him like two days a week and so I've been looking for kind of like "I miss you" songs. I don't like country at all but one of the best songs I've found it "The Dance" by Garth Brooks. I listen mostly to indie music but whatever's good, I'll listen to. I'm mostly looking for good lyrics though. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thank you so so much.

Re: Sad songs

Oh boy, want to be careful with the sad songs and you'll just end up making yourself really depressed.

Most depressing album I ever listened to was Dead Can Dance's "Beyond the realms of a dying sun". Not very uplifting.

Re: Sad songs

Haha, depressing music? Check out Shining. But they suck mostly, and their "I want to die, I cut myself on stage" attitude is not that cool :P

Re: Sad songs

not really depressing but sad: azure ray or maria taylor! their songs are kinda romantic I guess. I copied some lyrics by them for a birthday card to my boyfriend and he liked it...

Re: Sad songs

check out most stuff off broken social scene's 'you forgot it in people', although there's a fair chunk of light-hearted music that's almost filled with hope, i find the album fairly great when i'm in a sad mood. stars, too. that's a band that'll make you miss someone.

also, check out cursive ('domestica', and t'he ugly organ' primarily). tim kasher has talent.

Re: Sad songs

Most songs by The Smiths are quite depressing. I still love them though.

Re: Sad songs

Opeth's Damnation. For some reason that whole CD makes me feel gloomy.

Re: Sad songs

i know not many people like them, but mcr's "demolition lovers" is an excellent sad song.

Dashboard Confessional - A Plain Morning

If you like R&B, I know a lot, particularly--
Aaliyah - I Miss You (which perfectly fits your situation).
