Recommend me: good Indie

Looking to explore more of the modern Indie scene - my own music influences are mainly from the late 80's to early 90's, but I really need to widen out and get more up to date.

Any bands that come particularly recommended across the general Indie genre?

Yeah...the best thing to do would to be to buy NME magazine, its the best place for alternative/indie music and upcoming bands and stuff

Re: Recommend me: good Indie

If you like Neutral Milk Hotel, of montreal, I noticed that it was mentioned, check out Elf Power, Folklore, The Olivia Tremor Control, Camera Obscura, Belle and sabastian.

Flaming Lips, Beck - Wilco? Maybe.

Xiu Xiu - check out the pAper chAse for sure. "said the spider to the fly" is my favourite.

Modest Mouse- the decemberists, The Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie(has the same lead singer as the postal service), The Shins, Iron and wine, camera obscura, belle and sabastian, The Killers, Bright eyes???, and I would almost say the dashboard confessional

thats about all I have time for, if you want some more just message me.

Re: Recommend me: good Indie

one more thing, don't be afraid of popular bands like Radiohead, Modest Mouse, The Decemberists, some people listen the "indie" genre so that they can be different and try as hard as they can to find the most unknown band just so that they can be different. So, don't give those other bands up just because they are a little more known.
