Best Film Music?
Conan the Barbarian for starters - superb overall score by Basil Poledouris.
Return of the Jedi by John Williams of course has some superb moments in it. Shame the double-CD release chooses a completely different track (to tie in with the CGI-version and the pre-quels) rather than the "Jub Jub" song the Ewoks sing. Bladerunner - of course. Track 4 is just so serene. Aliens has great moments. ![]() And the Omen - if you want to get rid of unwanted guests to your house, put the music on that accompanies the part where Gregory Peck goes to the graveyard, finds the jackal skeleton, then gets chased by Dobermans. Great choral work! ![]() Oh - and the Lord of the Rings soundtracks, of course. I find myself listening to Return of the King quite a lot as background. Others of note: Braveheart and Enemy at the Gates. Any others I've forgotten?

Re: Best Film Music?
I adored the Kill Bill volume 1 soundtrack. All the LOTR's ones are great. As for great modern composers, its seems that John Williams and Danny Elfman can do no wrong.
Personal favorite themes would have to be:- Terminator 2 The Fellowship of the Ring Tombstone Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. (man those Yo-Yo Ma chello solo's are beautiful) Laurence of Arabia Spartacus Toto's theme to Dune The Godfather 2001 Clockwork Orange Bladerunner (Anything by Vangelis is great, Chariots of Fire is another epic masterpiece) Koyaanisqasti Powaqatsi And theres probably a whole load more I've forgotten. ![]() |
