Anyone here a fan of the group The MGMT (now touring with Of Montreal).

Their album just hit itunes yesterday and I plan on catching them on their current tour. Anyone else hear of them?

I just downloaded their album and am looking forward to lisyening to it. A few people I know say that they were absolutley amazing at a local festival so I thought it was worth a listen.

Hope they're as good as they say!

Okay - listened to the album - it's pleasant enough but the music is so simple, I reckon primary school kids could play it on their recorders.

I honestly began to be irritated - and I'm not someone who values musical complexity that much.

Agreed. When I first listened to the album the whole way through, I absolutely loved about two or three songs and looked over the other ones. Altogether, I like them enough to pay to see them live no doubt, but with all the publicity and buzz they've received from the new album I find them a tad bit overrated.
(Oh, and I heard one of their songs over the intercom at Old Navy yesterday and wanted to crawl into a hole and never come out. I hate when Corporate America takes the good music.) The only songs I listened to thru and thru: "Electric Feel", "Of Moons, Birds, and Monsters" and "Weekend Wars" is my favorite. The others are pretty bland.
