Morrissey
I have Viva Hate, Vauxhall and I, Kill Uncle, Southpaw Grammar, Your Arsenal, Bona Drag, My Early Burglary Years, Maladjusted, Suedehead, You Are the Quarry and Ringleader Of The Tormentors. My favorite is Viva Hate and my favorite song is Late Night, Maudlin Street closely followed by Seasick, Yet Still Docked, My Love Life and There's a Place In Hell For Me and My Friends.
His solo work is interested, I was scared of it for awhile figuring it would be like a weaker version of the Smiths but I was pleasantly suprised. While I don't love it as much as the Smiths for the most part it seems to be just entirely separate. He dabbles in so many different things and his lyrics just seem to improve. Re: Morrissey
For a moment I thought you opened with: "I hate ... "
I thought you had an awful lot of albums by someone you didn't like. ![]() Got to admit, only just started listening to the solo stuff - You the Quarry I think is the most recent one we got. I think comparison to The Smiths can be a little unfair, as though that's where Morrissey made his name, he's set himself an identity very separate, in terms of music and focus. Sure, there' still the dry lyrics, but not so teen-angst based as The Smiths seemed focused on. 2c.

Re: Morrissey
Ringleaders is the most recent, but on the note of recent and You Are the Quarry he's going back into the studio and working with the same producer he worked with on You are the Quarry and comparing Morrissey to the smiths is difficult I wasn't really talking soundwise. The only thing comparable about their sound is his earlier material which was kind of like Morrissey for Smiths fans later he came into his own and thank god, even though Viva Hate is my favorite album I don't think I would've been able to stomach a repeat of it 10 times.
