Re: Cool Music Videos
Matt Pond PA is a band on Altitude Records. They have created over 10 albums (if you include EP's), most recently Last Light (2007). The group was founded by Matt Pond (previously of Mel's Rockpile) in 1998 after relocating to PA.
For more bio info, go to www {dot} mattpondpa {dot} com. They have a MySpace (www {dot} myspace {dot} com {forward slash} mattpondpa). They are also currently on tour. You can check the dates out on their MySpace or website. |

ok...first, the term indie is short for independent, meaning, not affiliated with a major label that is its base definition, and I stress the word BASE (so there goes your claim that I don't know what it means) now, a band that was on an independent label (thus an indie band), that then gets signed to a major - are you trying to tell me that they are no longer an indie band then? why should they lose their classification (yes, the term has become a classification of a particualr genre of music, or rather, a sub-genre) just because they moved to a different label? the term indie has now become a musical genre, describing a "sound" or "ideal" about a band's music and not just a label for a band that hasn't been signed to a major label last time I checked, the dictionary has to be changed constantly because words gain new meanings, so for those of you who want to sit on your laurels, be my guest, and hang out in the stone age where change and progression don't happen rigidity only makes you look snooty and closed to progression so, basically, people who argue about this stuff have nothing else better to do with their time, are trying so desperately to stay away from whatever music as a whole is doing, refuse to accept that the term "indie" has changed, and waste their time by trying to tell "people like me" that I don't know what I'm talking about. Right. When I care what you think, I'll let you know. Next time, try not insulting someone who can speak musical circles around you. And by the way, it's "people like you", claiming theoretical superiority that cause people to turn their back on indie, in all of its definitions. |
