Lily Allen
I cant understand why she is so popular
Has anyone heard her speak?she is really well spoken so why does she sing in that mockney artful dodger voice?? She was brought up by Harry Enfield, her dad is Keith Allen and her mother a successful film producer so why is she making out shes from the streets?? I don't believe all the recent news stories either,i don't even believe she was going out with that Ed guy,its just more bullshit to make people like her and i think thats pretty sick to go that low! Also Mark Ronson is another rich kid...his mother comes form a long line of VERY rich people, she was like an it girl of her generation and his step dad was the leader of 'Foreigner' who are one of the richest rock bands ever. I wonder what would happen if you took a couple of young adults that were from a regular family but where amazingly talented(a girl that could actually sing and a guy that wrote his own songs)and gave them a shit load of money that their families couldn't afford what would happen!! MUCH BETTER MUSIC!! And all you middle class camden 'rock' bands...stop dropping your t's when you sing...its pathetic!!!we know you arent poor!! |

Re: Lily Allen
I may agree with the above on the lily allen stuff, but the CSS remix of "Alfie" is catchy as shit. Mark Ronson is talented though, but now that I know where he comes from it makes me dig him less. Foreigner? wtf?!

Re: Lily Allen
I think people get bored easily, so celebs just come and go. Lilly made a couple of good tunes and because she can network, has got herself TV shows etc. I think knowing the right people helps and her Dad is also well connected. Shes a funny lass, I'd rather see her on TV than Wino.

Re: Lily Allen
Totally agree with the OP on this matter, so many artists these days, specifically post-Arctic Monkeys, have little interest in doing their own thing, expressing their own voice, and are only interested in jumping on the bandwagon of more successful and original artists.
That said, alot of the blame must go to the record labels that sign these 'artists', more often than not pushing bands into sounding a certain way, trying to milk the current popular trends for all their worth. Sadly very few are interested in promoting anything even fairly different, they'd much rather put money into bands that fit into a niche well enough to expect a little return back on their investments, while hoping to have the next big thing.

Re: Lily Allen
i dont think its about where they come from, its about how they present themselves, pretending to be something their not...the falsities in the music business. but then theres a lot to say about the people who have everythin handed to them on a plate to those who have to work a lot harder for success
